Writing and sharing my life stories has been a journey of self-discovery. I’ve recalled memories that have shaped my life and influenced my behavior, yet were hidden away in my mind until a theme word was assigned to write about, which triggered an event from long ago.
Hearing the stories that others wrote on the same theme were so different from mine, yet emphasized that we all are on this journey of self-discovery together in our individual and unique ways.
I hope my children and grandchildren have as much fun reading my stories and learning about who I am as I did in putting the stories down on paper.
Thank you, Diane, for inviting me to join this group of wonderful women (you, too!) and for your thoughtful, helpful prodding and suggestions as we found the stories within us.
Thank you for inviting me to be part of your Guided Auto Biography Group! In so many ways, the guidance you laid out for us has been important for me as I muse the next decade of my life - I just turned 70.
You have a gift in encouraging and guiding people through the turns and growths of their lives. You have a gift.
Thank you so much for the difference you made for our family. My 82-year-old father overcame his reluctance to share his story with you and we now have a lovely memory book that we created for future generations.
Your patience & kindness drew out of him stories from years gone by that I had only partially heard previously.
He walked away from this project knowing himself newly & seeing that his life & what he has accomplished really made a difference for everyone around him! Thank you for your gracious generosity!
I am so grateful that I took Diane’s Legacy Class a few years ago! At the time, my dad was 93 years old and in fairly good health. I thought it would be a great idea to have my dad write Legacy Letters to my eight siblings and our children for Christmas. He sent the letters out mid-December and it was the most special Christmas ever for our family. Lucky for us, we received his blessing before he passed away 10 months later. We were so sad to say goodbye to him, but we all knew exactly how special we were to him. Thanks to Diane, my siblings and I are all committed to creating Legacy Letters for our children, as well. We want to pass on the blessing.
I recently worked with Diane of Intentional Journeys after caring for my terminally ill mother who passed away in 2009. With guidance from Diane, we worked on my concerns and planned a “completion party” that was a celebration of my mother’s life.
I loved the idea of a legacy letter, but I thought it would be a lot of work. I found with Diane’s process and techniques it was easy to organize your story and life’s lessons in your own words. I loved the way it turned out and so did my friends and family I shared it with!!
