Let’s GAB

Guided Autobiography sessions, provides so much to the participants. Over and over, I hear from those who have taken the course, about how much they learned about themselves, and how much enjoyment they got out of sharing their stories with others in the class. Over a period of about 6-8 weeks, participants share something each week, from an assigned theme in their life. While the theme may be the same, the stories are as varied as the participants, and seem to go in many directions.
Participants may come in as strangers, but by the end of the session, leave with a sense of community, a sense of self, and stories about one’s life, that can be passed on to loved ones, or used as the beginning of one’s memoir or autobiography.
Guided Autobiography was started by James Birren a noted gerontologist, back in the 1990’s. It has become quite a movement, used by all ages and in all parts of the world. Start your own group, or become part of a session that I will provide throughout the year.
One recent participant said “Hurray for Guided Autobiography, it has provided me with guidance as I muse through the next decade of my life.” Another said,” I hope my children and grandchildren have as much fun reading my stories, as I had writing them down”.
I hope to see you soon, let’s have a GAB fest.
